Founder and Guide, Dave, grew up in the Nelson region playing in the outdoors. On his 6th birthday he completed his first day hike in the Abel Tasman (14kms) and hasn't stopped since! After travelling and living extensively overseas Dave has always enjoyed coming back to Nelson--a place he describes as the ultimate outdoor playground. He hasn't found anywhere in the world with such natural diversity in one region. After spending much of the past year tour guiding around New Zealand, Dave noticed that most of the tour companies were spending little time in the Nelson region in order to rush to the big ticket items such as Queenstown, Milford Sound, Franz Josef and Lake Tekapo. And when he did get to the Nelson region his guests always wanted to spend longer and most said it was their favourite part of the tour. (Not surprising!) While the above mentioned natural wonders should be part of your NZ itinerary, there are so many amazing highlights in the top of the South that Dave now wants to share these with you and show off this amazing corner of the world!
Testimonials
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand with the exceptional tour guide, Dave, and I cannot speak highly enough of the unforgettable journey he provided. Dave's enthusiasm was infectious and added an extra layer of excitement to the entire tour. His genuine passion for showcasing the beauty of New Zealand truly made the experience exceptional.
Dave's local knowledge was nothing short of impressive. He seamlessly wove together historical facts, cultural insights, and insider tips, providing us with a rich understanding of the places we visited. It was like having a walking encyclopedia with a personal touch. He effortlessly created an open and friendly atmosphere, making everyone feel comfortable asking questions or seeking recommendations. His approachability enhanced the overall camaraderie of the group.
Dave's organizational skills were top-notch. From timely departures to smoothly navigating through various attractions, he ensured that our focus remained on the beauty surrounding us, while he took care of all the logistical details.
On a lighter note, I'm forever grateful to Dave for introducing me to the world of real fruit ice cream. Who knew that such a simple delight could be a game-changer? His food recommendations were also excellent. He didn’t take us to places that were “trending” or all flash. He took us to the places he believed we would enjoy the most because he genuinely wanted us to have a good time.
In summary, Dave's tour was an absolute delight. His enthusiasm, local knowledge, approachability, and organizational skills make him an outstanding guide. If you have the chance to explore New Zealand with Dave, consider yourself fortunate—you're in for an adventure filled with laughter, knowledge, and delicious surprises.
"Dave was absolutely awesome, we couldn't have asked for a better tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and provided lots of interesting information throughout the duration of the trip, and anything he wasn't sure of he was quick to look up for us! He made a real effort to bring the group together socially and build good rapport with guests. His communication was always clear and he always made sure everyone had everything they needed, e.g. breakfast requests. Overall, Dave went over and above what I would expect of a guide and made the trip a greatly enjoyable experience. Thank you Dave!"
"Dave was an incredible guide. He was extremely dedicated and passionate about us experiencing anything we could along the way. He helped us find hikes and things to see that weren't planned."
